Exciting News:

FHA Parents and Community,

Lisa, Megan, and I are so excited to be leaving for Ghana! We will be working at the Mephibosheth School, and we will have an opportunity to be a part of an event that will provide opportunities for over 2,000 children. All three of us are very passionate about serving children and families, and we are blessed to have the chance to travel into Africa to offer our support. Lisa has been asked to mentor the teachers because a lot of them teach with a high school completion certificate. The team will also be working on teaching the students/parents skills that will help them become employable in the community. Lisa, Megan and I are real excited about helping with the after school programs.  We will be sleeping/eating at the school, fully immersed in the Community.

Although the trip is costly, we have never been individuals to back down from doing our best to make a difference. We will be hosting a couple different fundraisers to help make this trip possible, and we are asking the FHA family to take a minute to consider supporting our VISION, to be a part of something bigger then ourselves!

We will be running all donations under Family House Academy to be able to provide everyone with a tax write off. If you have any odd jobs or tasks that need completed, please notify us so that we can put the money earned toward our trip. Since the last day of class was yesterday, we will be working steadily on finalizing all of our plans to leave the end of June.

To make this trip possible, we have a targeted amount of $10,000 for all three of us. So needless to say, the next three weeks will be full of a lot of work. We have currently raised $2850! $1850 from a grant and $1,000 from a FHA family! We only have $7,150 to go, we can do it with your help!

Please take a moment to learn more about Mephibosheth and feel free to ask any questions. Thank you for considering supporting this amazing opportunity, and please keep us in your prayers as we prepare to depart on this journey.

Sincerely,
Lisa, Megan, and Bree

Family House Academy Staff members had an amazing experience working in Ghana. We were able to work with staff at the Mephibosheth School, collaborate with The University of Winneba, and spend time embracing and enjoying the people and the culture. Thank you to all who supported our trip and our vision to continue providing the best education possible to students at Family House Academy and abroad. We have become better educators from our experience in Ghana. We are so thankful for the opportunity to serve in Ghana, and we are looking forward to a return visit.
