During science students were able to do several different experiments with cockroaches. On this particular day, students were testing whether cockroaches were more attracted to the vegetable mix or the sweet treats. Casey really enjoyed the project and his cockroach.

Family House Academy offers a lot of indoor and outdoor educational opportunities for their students. Nestled up on a hill with 6 acres to explore, the students are able to take advantage of a wide variety of natural learning spaces. The students’ typical day starts with a morning meeting where they are able to discuss the agenda for that day, share something they are excited about, and pray for any needs. We then go into our learning rotations for the day which could include science, history, math, literature, physical education, or interest groups. The staff is dedicated to making our students globally minded individuals, and we partner with others organizations outside of our community to make that connection a reality. This paste term students have enjoyed trips to Mercy Corps in Portland, Skyped with a PeaceCorps member in Ghana, and attended a lecture about the Syrian crisis.
